On
Saturday 20 May 2006 the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) presents the 51st edition of the Eurovision Song Contest through ERT (Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation) in Athens, Greece. Malta
does not need to take part in the Semi-Final Round on Thursday, 18 May 2005, because Chaira placed among the top 15 songs during the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest in Istanbul, Turkey. Her song Angel placed second at last year's contest, only 38 points behind the winner, My Number One, performed by Helena Paparizou from Greece.
Malta's
representatives for 2006 is Fabrizio Faniello singing I Do, which he wrote with Aldo Spiteri. This is Fabrizio's second appearance at the Eurovision Song Contest. His first appearance was five years ago
when he placed 9th in the 2001 Eurovision Song Contest final in Copenhagen,
Denmark, with the song Another Summer Night.
